Unless the airbag module is actually faulty, it doesn’t need to be replaced and can be reset . Replacing the airbag module can cost anywhere from $500 up to $1,000 depending on the vehicle, compared to a reset which will cost you around $50.
If the scanner tool is able to communicate with the module and doesn’t have an internal fault code then the crash data can be reset.
How do I know if my Airbag Module is faulty?
- Scanner shows an internal fault code for the module.
- No communication with the module.
- Visible corrosion.
- Water damage.
- Fire damage.
- Bent, broken, and corroded pins.
